Insurance claim checklist.
After an accident it is hard to think straight. Work through these steps in order and check them off as you go.
Wide shots of all cars involved, close-ups of the damage, plates, and the scene. Get the other driver's name, insurance and plate number.
If police came to the scene, note the report number and the precinct. Your insurer may ask for it.
Call your insurance company or use their app to open a claim. Write the number down. Every call after this starts with it.
The insurer assigns an adjuster to look at the damage. Get their name and number, and tell them which shop you chose.
Bring the car to 166 Depot Rd with your claim number and adjuster's contact. Call ahead so the shop expects you.

In New York, your insurance company can't require you to use a particular repair shop. The choice is yours (NY Insurance Law Section 2610).
